Fitness Running
We’ve all heard how good running is for fitness, but when it comes down to it, how well does it affect our overall fitness and health status?
The advantages associated with running are so great that we really can’t pinpoint all of the reasons why it is so beneficial. The same is true when it comes to a fast, steady walk.
The heart becomes stronger through running. If you want to keep the heart beating strong, then it is necessary to get the blood moving.
We shouldn’t forget how the heart is a muscle in the first place. It needs exercise just like every other part of the body in order to stay strong and working, as it should.
It has also been proven that running can avoid a heart attack. Were you aware that the heart of a couch potato beats just many more times throughout the day than that of an individual who enjoys a good run?
You probably didn’t know that the heart of an inactive person can beat up to 36,000 times more each day. Think of all the pumping it does and how much better fitness is for the heart.
The heart isn’t the only thing that improves through running. The lungs benefit as well. Running permits the lungs to reach its highest potential, as strength is built up. You are able to use all of your lung capacity when you run, rather than waste it away on other activities or sitting around all day.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who believe running only helps those looking to stay physically fit. They never stop to consider all the good it does for mental fitness.
Many studies have connected running to boosting confidence, increasing energy, restoring vitality, and lessening the effects of depression and anxiety. Those who run definitely feel the changes.
It’s a little ironic how people who do not run will waste thousands upon thousands of dollars per year searching for that magical cure that will provide relief from stress, tension, and depression. They usually fail.
If only they used 20 minutes of their day to run, they would surely become a believer when they experience the difference even in their mental outlook on life. A heightened sense of relaxation and a burst of energy are felt. The best part is that it is completely free.
Running truly is a magical key that unlocks fitness – both mentally and physically.
I don’t run but walk a great deal. It’s so invigorating and inspiring in so many ways. Most of my energy comes from a daily walk. Enjoyable and worth reading post - thanks.
Great post on the health benefits of exercise! I’ve came across research studies that have found aerobic exercise is comparable to some medication for alleviating the symptoms of depression.
